I wanted this piece to prove something I feel strongly about with Butones: a statement piece does not need a huge designer element to feel important.
The repurposed Louis Vuitton rivet is only 14mm, so instead of asking that tiny piece to carry the whole necklace, I built the drama around it. Different chain weights, the oversized star carabiner, the circular connector, and the long asymmetrical drop all work together to create the statement.
The designer element is part of the story, not the entire story.
That is really the point of this piece. The beauty is in the design itself — the proportions, movement, contrast, and the way all of the components were brought together. The little LV rivet gets to be the finishing detail rather than the reason the necklace exists.
